Menu Plan Monday

In Menu Plan Monday on August 24, 2009 at 11:58 am

The Hausfrau is back in the haus and doesn’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon.  I am very excited to be back, cooking regular meals this week.  Yes, I did do a bit of cooking here and there on our staycations but mostly, I let other people cook (in the form of takeout/restaurants).  Some highlights included a fresh vegetable pizza, a pizza with langoustine, and broiled tilapia with a roasted vegetable puree.  Here’s the plan for the coming week (my farmers market connection is ON VACATION):

8/22 – Pasta with Peas, Baby Lima Beans, and Pesto

8/23 – Broiled Chicken Drumsticks with bread salad

8/24 – Turkey Bolognese

8/25 – Fish Tacos with fresh green tomato salsa

8/26 – Crockpot Rotisserie Chicken

8/27  – Chicken Sate Wraps

8/28 – Pizza Night TBD

8/29 – BBQ Chicken Legs

8/30 – Slow Cooker Sunday – TBD (I’m waiting on some new cookbooks)

Menu Plan Monday – Further Continued

In Menu Plan Monday, Seasonal Eating on July 13, 2009 at 9:43 pm

The order sheet from Hickory Lane Farm had blue berries, black berries, and peaches – and I ordered all three.  More squash was ordered along with some more garlic.  We’re butting up against a week away from home with my in-laws so, this menu is going to cover Wednesday-Sunday and then go on hiatus until we return.  Posting will continue on a variety of food-related topics here at The A.H. but menu planning, well I don’t bother during vacations.

7/15 – Out at the JCC BBQ

7/16 – Frittata

7/17 – Peach, Prosciutto, and Goat Cheese Pizza

7/18 – BBQ – Chicken Schwarma

7/19 – Tex-Mex Turkey Burgers with Zucchini Salad

Menu Plan Monday, Part II

In Menu Plan Monday, Seasonal Eating on July 6, 2009 at 2:57 pm

Hickory Lane Farm sent over the list for Wednesday’s market early so I was able to sit down this morning and do my menu plan for the rest of the week.  Squash blossoms were on the list.  I’ve always wanted to work with them so, I’m going to give them a go and include them in our pizza this Friday.  We’re supposed to be home all weekend and that means grilling both Saturday and Sunday.

What ingredient have you always wanted to try to cook with but haven’t yet?

7/8 – Something from the leftovers in the freezer

7/9 – Kale and Feta Baked Potatoes

7/10 – Squash Blossom Pizza

7/11 – Coffee Rubbed Cheeseburgers

7/12 – Kebabs – Veggie and Sausage

7/13 – Vegetable Ribbon Pasta

7/14 – Grilled Vegetables with Mixed Greens and Blue Cheese

Menu Plan Monday, Part I

In Menu Plan Monday on July 6, 2009 at 1:32 am

In the summer months, my menu planning is a little kooky because I focus my meals around when I pick up my produce order from Hickory Lane Farm.  Since I get the list of what is available on Monday night’s and pick up my order on Wednesday morning, from May through November my menu plan goes from Wednesday – Tuesday.  The rest of the year, I stick to a Friday – Thursday plan based on when I do the bulk of my shopping.  I’m going to list out what I’m planning for our dinners (I don’t plan breakfasts and lunches – my daughter only eats a few things and my husband, well he can fend for himself) and then add a post each evening with the link/recipe for that dinner with pictures/commentary.  Also, keep a watch on my Twitter feed for any food-related insights/general musings I have during the day.

7/1 – Instant Potato Gnocchi with Summer Vegetables

7/2 – Asian Noodle Salad with Marinated Tofu

7/3 – Dinner out

7/4 – BBQ at the in-laws

7/5 – BBQ Sunday: Whole Chicken, Oil and Vinegar Potato Salad, Grilled Corn

7/6 – Fresh Vegetable Quesadilla

7/7 – Grilled Fish Sandwiches
